I am heart broken at the loss of my beloved Great Dane, Solly Tobeliki. He was such a beautiful boy and soooo loving. He arrived at SGDR at the age of 8 months and melted my heart with his beautiful face. Nobody applied to home him so I decided he would just fit in nicely with the rest of the gang! I had never had a Merle quite like Solly! He loved to hold a conversation with you... and he always had the last word too!! He was named after a very famous Springbok rugby player who played rugby with one of my sons in SA... Solly (the Dane!!) was very well known in SA... Over the years, Solly became my right hand man, going everywhere with me. I never needed to call him as he was always by my side! Solly came with me to a big fundraiser at Glamis castle last year and was a big hit with everyone!! Photos were taken of him with a miniature horse and with a tiny chihuahua. .. Solly loved every minute of it!!
A distinguished member of the Scottish Great Dane Club even commented that Solly was the best advert ever of what a rescue Dane was all about!! I was soooo proud of him... we were best mates... we understood each other. Then sadly his back legs collapsed and he was paralysed. I was devastated. I cried so much as I cuddled him and told him everything would be alright. I walk around the garden with the "gang" in tow, chatting to all my beloved Danes buried in their special places... I stop at Solly's ... a smile appears on my face because I know that Solly is still by my side.
I love you Solly x
